The problem I had: I needed a way to trigger my n8n workflows on demand without waiting for scheduled polling. During development and testing, I was constantly waiting for the next polling cycle to kick in. I didn't want clients to have to wait too.
What I built: A simple Chrome Extension that lives in your browser. One click sends a webhook to a specific n8n workflow which instantly kicks off a new workflow execution.
The outcome: Development and testing are now instant. Clients can trigger workflows whenever they need to instead of waiting for the next scheduled run. It's live on the Chrome Web Store and ready to use.
My "Instant Webhook" is now published on the Chrome Web Store.
2-3 weeks ago I published a post about a simple Chrome Extension I created using ChatGPT.
Well I finally got round to publishing it. It's not pretty, but it is functional!
Overview
Trigger workflows on demand without polling. Simple webhook triggers with no payload.
I created this to provide an instant method of triggering n8n to go and grab the latest changes from my BizBrains Coda table or Google Drive files. It speeds up development, testing, and also allows clients to trigger workflows at will instead of having to wait for periodic polling.
